Ahem… okay, so in all honesty, I don’t have a tilt-shift lens. But, I do have Photoshop, which gives me the ability to manipulate photos in all sorts of unimaginable ways. So… tilt-shift is a type of photographic technique that normally involves special lenses and enables a miniature diorama-type effect. It typically involves a large aperture and shallow depth of field, among others.
Tilt-shift is uber-fun, and easy! You can achieve the same effects in Photoshop without the super-spendy lens. The effect is reminiscent of a gaussian blur around the subject, but there’s also a miniature toy look that you don’t get with just the gaussian blur. So here are my creations:
