Not quite summer yet…

But you can almost smell it approaching. We’ve had a couple gorgeous days lately, and after today the rain’s supposed to let up for the week.

We’re excited for July to get here so we can find a place in Austin and get the heck outta the PacNorthwest at the end of the month. It’ll be hard to leave Ev’s fam and summertime and blackberries and the ocean–the NW has been good to us, especially in the summer–it’s what made me fall in love with this place. But we’ve been craving a big city and warm weather. Austin is both of those things, not to mention a booming tech industry and a stable economy.

Always said I’d never live in Texas….. always said I’d never be a marketer too…. hmmmmm…. notice a trend? ;)

A friend of ours is coming up tonight by train from Oregon to spend a couple days with us. Business has slowed down a bit for summer and we’ve closed out a lot of projects in the past several weeks. Still have a couple active ones, but finally that’s become a blessing, not something to fret about. Gives us time to work on our own projects (which we’ve never have enough time to do) and enjoy a bit of the summer. We went to the beach last weekend at low tide and waded through tidepools, our toes being tickled by little sculpin fry that hide in the eel grass, trying not to crush live sand dollars as we walked. Saw lots of crabs, clams, and the occasional jellyfish. Best part of the morning was learning how to get geoducks to squirt. Here’s a video I found on YouTube that shows exactly how its done (only when I did it the first time, there was quite a loud, semi-delighted, semi-frightened scream when they squirted!!).

:)
